Open Lens Photo Club

Online club pages for sharing, voting on, and discussing photography themes.

Vote for the Current Favorites

This page displays the photos and the voting mechanism together so club members can choose a favorite entry.

The voting page combines the pictures and the voting mechanism on the same page so visitors can see the entries before making a choice. That is one of the direct requirements in the project handout, and it also makes practical sense because no one should have to flip back and forth between pages to remember which image belongs to which contestant. For this sample club cycle, each category has one featured finalist. The images below act as the voting choices, and the short captions identify what viewers are selecting. A simple mailto form is used here so the vote can still be sent without needing server-side processing.

When club members vote, they should choose the image that is strongest in composition, clarity, and how well it matches the category idea. The point of the vote is not to decide which subject is inherently better, but which image works best as a photograph. Voters can also leave a short comment if they want to explain their choice. The form below sends the selected winner by email, which gives the club organizer a clear written record of the vote. Because the pictures are shown directly above the form controls, the page fulfills both the viewing and voting parts of the assignment in the same place.
